Training Boat – Mercury

Now Instructing not Hiring

We no longer hire our boat out and are concentrating on training as the primary function of the boat. Formally with the RYA, now independent, we offer a very professional and tailored training program to suit each customer. Whether you are intending buying, hiring or just fancy trying narrowboating we can provide a schedule that will satisfy your requirements. Canal or river, wide or narrow locks, one or two days, it’s your choice. Each course is designed to fulfil the expectations of our customers and from the comments received we seem to achieve this. Over 30 years of boating have given us a deal of experience to draw on, and our current dedication to exceed in boat handling techniques that are then passed on to our customers give us a second to none instructing programme. After the lessons we like to keep in touch to offer a continued assistance if required and have had requested return courses to consolidate techniques. The boat is 57.5 feet and handles very easily, for beginners and experienced boaters alike.

Our narrowboat ‘Mercury’ currently sleeps up to 6 adults. It has 2 bedrooms, 2 toilets, a walk-in shower and a fully equipped galley kitchen. The saloon which converts into a second double bedroom, make a good teaching area for safety and other classroom activities. Our middle bedroom is now being converted into an office for the administration of the business

Dogs are welcome by arrangement. We are dog lovers having 3 Labradors. A little too boisterous on the boat unfortunately so not allowed on but no problem for yours.
      Are you interested?

    • Thank you so much.

Maybe like you, we spent so many weeks on hire boats – all thoroughly enjoyable but used the experiences to develop our ideas on what we wanted when we eventually owned one.
We bought a shell from Collingwood Boats and fitted it out ourselves. More work than ever anticipated but the gradual development into reality was great fun.
If we can help you at all please ask. Only too happy to pass on our experience.

Once again thanks and all the best in your quest.

Have a good Christmas and New Year.

      Mick and Sue
